Batesville is a quaint community that celebrates its German cultural heritage. Much of the local architecture has been influenced by Bavarian design. There were lovely pots of blooming flowers hanging from lampposts all around the downtown area and the streets always look freshly swept, and have every time we've been there. There are several good wineries in the area, some with restaurants, that are fun to visit. Try Ertel Celler winery. Their Marachal Foch is excellent! Metamora - a canal town from Indiana's pioneer past - is worth a visit, and Brookville Lake SRA is also somewhere you will want to visit.
